Rapper Flavor Flav was taken into police custody in Nevada for a domestic violence incident in early October.
TMZ reported that Flav, born William Jonathan Drayton Jr., is facing is misdemeanor domestic battery after allegedly grabbing a woman and throwing her down. Flav was also accused of poking the woman on the nose. He was booked on Oct. 5 by the Henderson Police Department.
David Chesnoff, the hypeman’s Nevada-based attorney, told the outlet, “In alleged domestic violence cases, there are often two sides to the story and we will explain our side in the courtroom and not in the media.”
This isn’t the “911 Is A Joke” singer’s first time facing domestic violence. In 1991, Flav was arrested for assaulting the mother of his first three children and ex-girlfriend Karen Ross. He pled guilty to assault and spent 30 days behind bars and was banned from seeing the children for a bit. In 2012, the rapper also went to jail for threatening Elizabeth Trujillo and her teenage son with a knife after she accused the “Fight The Power” of being unfaithful.
Flav’s past with the law and his battle with drug and alcohol addiction is public record.
The Flavor of Love star celebrated one year of sobriety on Instagram. On Oct. 19, he wrote, “1 year up, lotz more to go, next year I pray my whole family will be walkin’ the same path I am.”
