The First Lady of the west coast infamous label, Death Row, Jewell Peyton passed away early Friday morning.
According to Death Row’s former head of security, Reggie Wright, Jr., the 53-year-old singer died at 5 a.m. At the beginning of March, Jewell reportedly was admitted to the hospital after being diagnosed with eight pounds of excessive fluid in her lungs, legs and heart.
Doctors readmitted the “Woman To Woman” singer on March 16 and released her five days later. Jewell kept fans in the loop regarding her health crisis. She posted an inspirational message about her belief in God’s power.
“Attention All Non-Believers. I was Hospitalized on March 2, 2022. Released on a March 5, 2022, went home,8lbs of fluid on my heart, lungs, and legs,” Jewell expressed. “Went back to hospital March 16th until Today March 21, 2022. I Almost Died! Was supposed to be Airlifted to another facility. GOD reverse my symptoms extended me some GRACE! And gave me more time with my Family and Friends! Thank you JESUS for saving my life again! GOD IS REAL!”
After the news of her death circulated on social media, fans paid their respects to Jewell.
In later years, Jewell’s appearance on a podcast showed the masses that her reputation of being Death Row’s first lady was well-earned.

Jewell was the female voice behind many of Death Row Records’ most popular hooks. The Chicago native, born Jewell Caples, was also the label’s first female R&B singer signed to the west coast label in 1992. She was on the label for three years. Her hit single “Woman to Woman” reached 72nd on the Billboard Hot 100.
