WWD reported the Spanish fashion house, Balenciaga, has ended its relationship with Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West.
On Thursday, Balenciaga’s parent company, Kering, announced that its collaborations would cease after Ye’s problematic anti-Semitic rants.
“Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist,” Kering told the publication.
The last project Ye and the couture brand collaborated on was Balenciaga’s Summer 2023 fashion show during Paris Fashion Week. It’s since deleted images affiliated with the Chicago rapper from its website.
Balenciaga had previously worked with Ye with American clothier GAP for the “Love Lockdown” rapper’s sweatshirt collaboration.
In 2021, the fashion house, in conjunction with Yeezy, created a tribute sweatshirt to fallen rapper DMX to raise money for his family.
The sweatshirt raised over $1 million in profits. The garment was priced at $200 each and sold out within 24 hours of its release. It was described as “a tribute to the artist and his fans with net proceeds benefiting Simmons’s family.”
