Mark Curry made a huge splash in the 1990s with his prominent role in Hanging With Mr. Cooper and his time spent as host of Showtime At The Apollo, becoming a Black household name. He was recently spotted in Los Angeles, California, during a recent news interview where he commented on the state’s skyrocketing gas prices.
After a news reporter with KTLA lumped him in with “L.A. drivers” instead of displaying his name, fans instantly set the record straight, letting her know that she was talking to an icon.
While at an Exxon station in Los Angeles, Curry offered his opinion about the current gas prices in his area, which are over four dollars, and why drivers should give up on searching for cheaper gas.
“It something that we shouldn’t worry about,” the “Drew Carey Show” star said on camera. “People worry. ‘It’s three cents there. I’m gon’ drive down four miles to spend the same four dollars.’ It doesn’t make sense.”
At the end of the segment, the white female reporter corrected her mistake and acknowledged Curry after fans on Twitter informed her. “Those interviews with the people at the gas station, they’re what we call man-on-the-street interviews,” she said. “Well, that last one just happened to be with the star of the ‘90s sitcom Hanging With Mr. Cooper.”
