After Drake revealed the cover art for his highly anticipated album “Certified Lover Boy” on Monday, fans had a lot to say.
Drizzy posted the album art on his Instagram account. The cover features an image of 12 pregnant female emojis of various skin colors. The art was designed by British artist Damien Hirst, CNN reported. In the caption, Drake stated the album would be released on Friday.
The CLB album art generated mixed reactions from fans. Some people were excited about a new offering from Drake, while others were perplexed by the cover art.
“Drake is the greatest artist of all time. People just hate to admit it and are in denial,” one person tweeted.
“When I came into the tl I thought apple released some new emojis, but it was just drake’s album cover HELP,” wrote another user.
Music nerds tried to interpret the meaning of the cover. Since the album’s original release date was in January 2021, the cover may be a nod to the nine-month delay.
Others cracked jokes about Drake’s reputation. Some users even threw in a few jabs at Nick Cannon and his growing brood.
“This should’ve been Nick Cannons album cover instead of Drake’s,” one person joked.
Then, there are the memes.
Music isn’t the only thing Drake plans to release. The Canadian crooner will also drop Certified Lover Boy merchandise for a collaboration with Nike, according to Hypebeast. The line will feature apparel and shoes with phrases from the album. Fans are already buzzing about the IG captions that will come from the album and Nike collabo.
Additionally, his right-hand man OVO Mark went live on Monday while he was giving out free t-shirts to passersby. A release date for the CLB merchandise has not been released.
