Family Matters Star Kellie S. Williams Reunites With TV Mom On Set Of Daughter’s New Movie

Kellie S. Williams, best known for her role as Laura in the ’90s hit show Family Matters, posed with TV mom Jo Marie Payton on the set of her daughter’s new holiday movie.

Williams’ daughter, Hannah Belle Jackson, is following in her mother’s footsteps with her first acting role in the holiday film Merry Switchmas.

The film is about identical twin sisters who switch identities during an annual Christmas party. The two sisters bond and learn a lot about their families and themselves before the night ends. Though it is unclear what role Jackson will play in the film, Williams is excited about her daughter’s big-screen debut.

The celebrity mom took to Instagram to share a post of Jackson’s first headshot as a child actress. “First headshot,” Williams said, gushing over her daughter. “I’m not ready,” Williams continued. “My big girl.”

She also shared a beautiful photo of herself, her daughter, and Payton with a caption that was filled with love and nostalgia. “Three generations (Me, Jo Marie, and my daughter) on the set of Merry Little Switchmas,” said the ’90s actress in the post.

Payton played Harriette Baines Winslow alongside Williams in the long-running CBS sitcom Family Matters. For nine seasons, Payton, Williams, and the rest of the cast set the tone for black, middle-class families to be depicted in a positive light on television. The sitcom was an American favorite during “TGIF” Friday nights.

Family Matters fans commented on Williams’ post in excitement and shared moments of nostalgia as they were happy to see the sitcom’s cast members reunite for Jackson’s movie. One fan said, “We want a reboot,” while another fan commented in awe of Payton’s appearance years after the show ended. “Black surely don’t crack. Everyone looks exactly the same — look at Miss Harriet.”

While a Family Matters reboot most likely won’t happen, we cannot wait to see Jackson’s debut in Merry Switchmas. The film was written by Gabrielle Collins, and Christopher Nolan directed it. It is slated for release on December 9, 2021.
