Ezra Blount’s Family Declines Travis Scott’s Offer To Pay For Funeral, More Families Come Forward

The family of 9-year-old Ezra Blount has declined Travis Scott’s offer to cover funeral costs for the young boy who lost his life after suffering severe injuries during the Astroworld Festival in early November.

The “Sicko Mode” rapper’s attorney, Daniel M., sent a letter on November 24th to the attorneys representing the family– Crump and Bob Hilliard–to offer Scott’s “deepest sympathies and condolences for the loss of his son Ezra,” and to provide financial support, The Shaderoom reported.

However, Blount’s family declined the offer through a statement from one of their attorneys, Bob Hilliard.

“The loss of a child is like a faucet of unimaginable pain that has no off handle,” Hilliard’s letter said. “Your client’s offer is declined.”

A representative for the rapper released a statement on Monday stating he plans to cover funeral costs for all eight victims who lost their lives that day, CNN reported.

“Travis remains in active conversations with the city of Houston, law enforcement, and local first responders to respectfully and appropriately connect with the individuals and families of those involved,” the statement reads. “These are the first of many steps Travis plans on taking as a part of his personal vow to assist those affected throughout their grieving and recovery process.”

While the 30-year-old has suggested covering funeral expenses for the victims, more families have come forward, declining to accept his money.

According to TMZ, attorneys representing the families of 14-year old John Hilgert and 27-year-old Danish Baig have stated that the families have refused to accept the offer, as one family suggested the rapper’s actions was a slap in the face.

Attorney Michael Lyons, representing Baig’s family in a civil lawsuit against Scott and others, said his clients’ have also refused the financial assistance in a statement.

“We received a written offer from Travis Scott’s attorney Dan Petrocelli indicating that he would pay $7,500 in funeral burial costs, and my clients are rejecting that.”

Sis2sis previously reported, Blount attended

the Houston festival with his father, Treston Blount, in hopes of seeing his “favorite artist.” Instead, Blount was on his father’s shoulders, enjoying the performances, when a massive crowd surged to the front of the stage, causing the young boy to fall off of his father’s shoulders. During the fall, both Blount and his father were trampled by festivalgoers.

As a result, he suffered irreversible brain damage and spent eight days in the hospital before succumbing to his injuries.
