Evelyn Braxton Makes Statement About Daughter Traci Braxton’s Death Via Social Media

Evelyn Braxton, the matriarch of the singing clan, made a statement about her late daughter, Traci Braxton, via social media.

Evelyn took to Instagram on Tuesday, Mar. 15, to write a lengthy post about her beloved daughter’s passing.

“My dear sweet, wonderful, incredible daughter, we slept in the same bed before she became so terminally ill all night talking while sharing so many secrets,” she shared.

Their mother detailed Traci’s determination to beat cancer in her recent statement.

“She said with so much strength of faith, ‘Mommy I’m going to beat this! My healing is right around the bend.’ I replied with so much hope, [saying], ‘Absolutely oh yes, you will be [heal],Baby girl, without a doubt!’”

Evelyn continued, adding that they were both firm believers in God and spent time praying together while Traci was sick.

“We prayed every day, we repeated Psalms 23 &Anointed our heads With oil…[Traci] fought a good fight and held on until she could not hold on anymore. Only to realize that sometime[s] healing is not on this side of God’s kingdom but lies on the other side in the bosom of God.”

She concluded the post by thanking a higher power for her daughter.

“Thank you, Lord, for 50 years you have given me and my family and the world with Traci and allowing me to be her Mommy. It will always be [an] empty place in my heart that will never be fulfilled…Forever in my heart!”

On Saturday, Mar. 12, Traci died from esophageal cancer at age 50 after battling the disease for an entire year.

Her son, Kevin Surratt, Jr., announced the sad news via his Instagram page. Shortly after he uploaded the post, his Grammy Award-winning aunt, Toni Braxton, confirmed his mom’s death on the social media platform.

“Traci passed this morning as the snow was falling. Our angel is now a snowflake. We ask that you respect our privacy as we plan to send her home with love, celebrating her life,” she wrote about her sister.

Their mother detailed Traci’s determination to beat cancer in her recent statement.

Traci’s widower, Kevin Surratt Sr., expressed similar sentiments in a post that he also shared about her on his Instagram page.

“It took A lot for me to post this. It’s with A heavy heart I must say I’ve loss the love of my life, @therealtracibraxton, due to her battle with cancer. She was my #dreamgirl…” he said in its caption.

“Thank you for our life we had together. Until we meet again, Babygirl ETERNAL LOVE My FOREVER & EVER TRARATT.”

The Maryland native was not only a star on her family’s hit WE TV reality show, Braxton Family Values, but she was also a talented singer just like her sisters. She debuted her first single, “Last Call,” which appeared on her first album, Crash & Burn (2014).

On Mar. 16, her mother alerted fans of a fraudulent GoFundMe page that was created following Traci’s death and that they should not donate to the account.

“This has nothing to do with the Braxtons or Kevin Jr. We have no idea who this person is. PLEASE DO NOT DONATE!!!” she wrote beneath a screenshot of the page.
