After several back-and-forth moments on social media in recent months, Erica Mena has officially made steps to end her marriage with her estranged husband, Safaree. The reality television star went to Georgia’s Fayette County Superior Court last Friday, May 21, to file for divorce after less than two years of marriage, TMZ reports.
Mena is seeking primary custody of their shared 1-year-old daughter, Safire, with the option of sharing joint legal custody with Safaree, according to TMZ. She also plans on asking for child support.
Earlier this month, Mena took to her Instagram to announce her pregnancy and second child with Safaree.
“More Life. Who wants that perfect love story anyway,” she captioned her maternity photo.
Since news of the divorce has been made public, Mena deleted the picture featuring Safaree and now only has solo maternity pictures on her Instagram page.
Breakup rumors began swirling last week when Mena posted a video of her and Safaree’s 1-year-old daughter, Safire, with the mysterious caption, “My best friend already at 16 months. We’ve been enjoying all the moments that matter together. God knows exactly what he is going,”
“I’m SO grateful all my kids chose me. I will be beyond resilient once I hold my third heartbeat. God continue to protect my three on this new journey,” the 33-year-old mother added.
After a fan hopped into her comments and asked if she’d be having any more kids in the future, Mena replied, “Absolutely never getting pregnant again. Lol, it’s not easy doing it alone, girl,” implying that Safaree was no longer involved. The post’s comments have since been turned off.
The two also had a public spat earlier this year when Safaree tweeted out in February, “I mean this from the bottom of my heart, getting married was one of my BIGGEST mistakes, and it will never happen again.”

Claiming she also wanted nothing to do with the relationship, Mena tweeted back at her husband, “Since you always run to social media like a little girl, I might as well join in. I absolutely agree with you on this. You are the most selfish, vain, and inconsiderate person. And not just with me but your only daughter!”
Safaree has not yet commented on the divorce filing.
