Four delivery nurses from Emory University Hospital are under fire for mocking their patients in a minute-long TikTok that went viral last week. In a now-deleted video, the Atlanta nurses took turns listing their “icks” – or biggest pet peeves – about dealing with patients regarding their jobs.
Some of the icks listed from different nurses were: “My ick is when you come into your induction talking about, ‘Can I take a shower and eat?’” Another one said, “My ick is when you ask me how much the baby weighs, and it’s still in your hands.”
Two other nurses answered the titular question with “When we’ve already told you to push the call light, but every five minutes your family member comes to the front desk asking for something else,” and “Another ick [is] when you’re going room to room between one baby mama and your other baby mama…when the dad comes outside and asks for a paternity test right outside the room door,”

Emory Healthcare released a statement condemning the behavior of the nurses and referring to them as “former employees” and “disrespectful and unprofessional.” The release read, “We are aware of a TikTok video that included disrespectful and unprofessional comments about maternity patients at Emory University Hospital Midtown. We have investigated the situation and taken appropriate actions with the former employees responsible for the video.” Emory assured that the video did not represent their values and didn’t meet the standard of care they expected.
“At no time should our patients ever feel they are not being treated with care and respect. Every patient at Emory Healthcare deserves to be cared for by a compassionate, experienced team in a comfortable and safe environment.”
