Journalist, editor, author, and TV host Elaine Welteroth announced the birth of her baby boy on social media.
Welteroth took to Instagram to announce the exciting news on Apr. 27, with a cute montage video chronicling her pregnancy. Her adorable baby showed up towards the end of the clip.
“Look who finally made his debut. Thank you for all of your prayers and well wishes along this wild ride earthside. Baby is here, and he feels the love,” she wrote.

The 35-year-old added that she gave birth at home, and her son weighed nine pounds.
“Forever grateful to our angel midwives @kimberlydurdin + @mama_leggs at @kindredspacela for helping us safely deliver our healthy, juicy, nine-pound blessing at home. He’s so sweet he deserved his own song. Song: Jonathan Singletary – Before You Arrive.”
She previously revealed, on Oct. 11, 2011, that she and her husband, Singletary, were expecting their first child via another Instagram montage video.
“New creative collab with @jonathansingletary dropping spring 2022 #JesusTookTheWheel. Lullaby by my baby daddy-to-be,” she wrote in the caption.
Welteroth and her husband wed in 2020 after an over-three-year engagement. Their ceremony was held on a Brooklyn stoop, followed by a block party.
Originally from California, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies in 2008 and later became an editor for prominent publications, including Teen Vogue, Glamour, and Ebony. In 2020, she became a judge on Bravo’s hit fashion series, Project Runway, and in 2021 she was a co-host of the CBS daytime show The Talk, featuring panelists Sheryl Underwood and Jerry O’Connell, for one season.
Most recently, she launched an Instagram live series for Black maternal health titled Maternitea.
Its first episode debuted on Jan. 17–Martin Luther King Jr. Day–and has gone live every Sunday ever since.
“Inadvertently, we created the forum that I needed so desperately and then realized so many other women needed too,” she reportedly said. “Overnight, I felt so much better. I felt lighter. I felt less alone.”
