The music platform, Verzuz, was created by producers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. It was introduced as a “DJ Battle” on Instagram in March 2020. The platform reached millions of people looking for entertainment during the COVID-19 pandemic. The artists in the battle pick 20 songs each to compete, and the fans choose their winner.
Now, the competition is produced and held on stage with the contestants’ performances.
A few notable battles include the most recent Valentine’s day edition of soulful music artists Anthony Hamilton and Musiq Soulchild, the controversial match between Gucci and Young Jeezy and the legendary Monica versus Brandy battle.
