Earth, Wind and Fire And The Isley Brothers Turned OUT “Verzuz” On Easter Sunday

Sunday night’s Verzuz between Earth, Wind and Fire (EWF) and The Isley Brothers was legendary. The four-hour music battle, hosted by Steve Harvey with D-Nice, was a culmination of living history, a giant family reunion and an ode to Black people.

EWF and The Isley Brothers combined have given Black people a century’s worth of iconic music.

The legendary groups took Black folks– old and young– down memory lane. And new schoolers even learned where many of rap’s finest samples originated.

Black people from all over tuned in to the Battle Du Jour, and of course, fans on social media had plenty to say about the music, the host and the experience.

Here’s a rundown of some of the best commentary from social media of the night.

Steve Harvey’s enthusiasm and respect for EWF and The Isley Brothers were off the meters, and so were his stories. Twitter fans quickly grew weary of the mustached mack daddy’s anecdotes.

There was also commentary on EWF’s Verdine White’s glorious mane.

Tweets over the two iconic groups’ catalogs and dance moves were also abundant and hilarious.

Baby, they still got it.

And we would be remiss if we didn’t get into the original playa from the Himalayas– Ronald Isley, also known as Mr. Biggs. He served us luxury fur, a suit and a cane.

All in all, this Verzuz was one for the history books.

And this tweet summed up the night for everyone.
