Dwyane Wade Says Wife Gabrielle Union Planted Rumor About Him

Dwyane Wade appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Nov. 17 and revealed his wife, actress Gabrielle Union, began a rumor about him.

The former Miami Heat baller played professional basketball from 2003 to 2019, and he told Colbert that Union began a rumor that she had his poster on her wall in college.

Wade said that the story was not true and that Union liked to use her celebrity to tell fibs as a joke.

“So, my wife is a bigger celebrity than me,” he told Colbert. “And she gets to come on your show, and other shows way more than I. So, she planted this story. This is a planted story. This did not happen, people,” he declared. “It’s a lie,” he laughed.

The 13-time NBA All-Star also told the story about when he met Michael Jordan for the first time. Wade was in Chicago after getting drafted by the Chicago Bulls at his draft party. His cousin alerted him that Michael Jordan was outside, but security hadn’t let him in.

Wade said that he and his cousin ran to the club’s front doors, and Wade described the front doors of the club opening in slow motion when he saw Jordan standing there. Jordan was with his entourage, and Wade said he blurted out, “Hey Mike, ya wanna come in?”

“Nah, I’m good,” replied Jordan.

Union and Wade were married in 2017 after meeting in 2009.

Union posted pictures of herself with her hubby on Instagram dressed and looking good while the couple was visiting Paris last summer. On their anniversary, she also posted photos of the couple partying in St. Tropez, Côte d’Azur.

Wade posted some solo pictures looking debonair on Instagram on Nov. 17 with a caption.

“I can be the cleanest millionaire, I’m from the mud still’~ Lil Durk 😤.”

Wade joked with Colbert that he had a magazine with Union on the cover that he kept under his pillow.

“Now, I had the magazine that she was on the cover of, and it probably was under my pillow, but it wasn’t on the wall,” he joked. “Don’t disrespect me like that.”
