Canadian rapper Drake seemingly threw shots at Pharrell Williams and his longtime enemy Pusha T in his and Travis Scott’s recent single, “Meltdown,” released on Friday, July 28, as part of Scott’s “Utopia” album.

Drake brings his bars in the first verse, rapping, “My schedule is out, come spin us, for real / Man f**k all that spinnin’ the narrative s**t / I melt down the chains that I bought from your boss / Give a f**k about all of that heritage s**t / Since V not around, the members done hung up the Louis, they not even wearing that s**t.”

Drake continued, “Don’t come to the boy ’bout repairing some s**t / Don’t come to the boy about sparing some s**t / You lucky that Vogue was suing, ’cause I would’ve been with the Wassas in Paris and s**t.”

Drake and Pusha T have been known to bump heads since 2011, but surprisingly, he put Pharrell in the middle when the two have been reportedly cordial. The rapper even gave the nod to the music producer and now Vogue’s creative director for menswear in the “Jumbotron S**t Poppin'” music video from his collaborative album with 21 Savage, “Her Loss.” He flaunted a diamond chain formerly owned by Pharrell. 

So, it’s unclear why Drake dragged Pharrell in the lines, “Since V not around, the members done hung up the Louis, they not even wearing that s**t.”

Pharrell inviting Pusha T to his first-ever Paris fashion show may have caused

this because of the last part of the lyrics where he stated he planned on bringing Wassas, an infamous Toronto gang, to the Paris fashion show. 

Pharrell has remained Switzerland in the situation, carefully choosing his words while on Drink Champs in 2020. He stated that he and Drake remained cordial despite the beef, primarily since he and Pusha T have worked together many times and were good friends.

Drake and Pusha T have been beefing since 2011 after the “God’s Plan” rapper expressed his admiration for the hip-hop duo The Clipse (No Malice and Pusha T) and made known he had a microphone with Pusha’s signature. But then he dropped “Dreams Money Can Buy,” stating that his favorite rappers were either lost or dead. 

Pusha seemed to take the lyric to heart and released “Don’t F**k With Me,” where he dissed Drake by referencing rappers in their “sophomores,” referring to Drake having only released his sophomore album.

During a Hot 97 interview, Drake was asked about his thoughts on Pusha dissing him, but he didn’t know it was the rapper insulting him and told him to “make it a little more direct next time.”

This caused the two to go back and forth, making diss tracks. Things escalated when the “Mercy” rapper revealed Drake had fathered a secret child through the release “The Story of Adidon.”

They continued going back and forward, seemingly never-ending their feud.
