Breakfast Club host Charlamagne tha God had much to say about Drake on a recent episode of The Brilliant Idiots Podcast. Drizzy clapped back on his Instagram Story.
Charlamagne co-hosts The Brilliant Idiots podcast with comedian and actor Andrew Schulz. In their Sept. 21 episode titled âSuperficial Singles,â the podcasters compared Doja Catâs album rollout to Drakeâs, in which Schulz cut in praising the âHotline Blingâ rapper for his ability to keep people talking about his album.
Charlamagne countered his point by mentioning Drakeâs âSlime You Outâ track, featuring SZA.
The radio host claimed people began talking about the lyrics days after Drake dropped it on Friday.
âDrake put out a song last Friday, and nobody cared,â Charlamagne alleged. âIt came out last Friday, and people just started talking about the lyrics yesterday. I saw people posting about how he said something about the whips and chainsâŠyou get whipped and chained like an African slave.â
The lyric he referred to was âWhipped and chained you like American Slaves.â
âIâm in the group chat, and Iâm like, âDamn, Drake put out this record Friday, and people just get into the lyrics on a Monday?â Thatâs not Drake-like. Heâs going to be fine, regardless.â
Charlamagne said âweâ were looking for a more aggressive and âharderâ record. Others around the radio host disagreed, but Charlamagne maintained his argument, adding that Drake was still âdope.â
The 45-year-oldâs comments didnât sit right with the 36-year-old rapper, who took to his IG story to give the radio host a piece of his mind.
To back his argument of Charlamagne being âobsessedâ with him, he posted a video collage from TikTok of Charlamagne talking about Drake, from calling him a sexual orientation to claiming heâs a âcornyâ guy.
The collage included a 2011 interview of post-Degrassi Drake calling Charlamagne a loser for tearing him apart on The Breakfast Club.
He then addressed Charlamagne using his first name, Lenard (McKelvey).Â
âAre you ok, Lenard?? You kinda weirding me out, G,â Drake wrote. âLike you really obsessed with me or something for years, like you look in the mirror and wish you saw my reflection typeâŠwhatever you gotta do to let it out, Iâm sure your 435 loyal fans will stand by you. Ya f**king goof.â
He posted a side photo of Charlamagne in another slide, calling him the off-brand version of actor Morris Chestnut.
