DMX’s Ex-Wife Tashera Simmons Embraces His Fiancee Desiree Lindstrom After Touching Speech At Funeral

An unexpected and touching moment occurred at DMX’s homegoing after his ex-wife embraced his fiancée in front of the world.

Tashera Simmons doesn’t owe anyone anything after she spoke her piece at X’s funeral last Sunday. At the end of her eulogy, she invited Desiree Lindstrom, DMX’s fiancée, to stand on stage with her.

“As I close, I am going to recognize Desiree because from day one; real women do real things. I’m a real woman, and I’m a woman of God. That woman is a woman of God,” Simmons told the audience. She’s in training, she’s in the works, she ain’t perfect, but she love that man. And that’s why I love you,” she continued. “You hear me?”

A tearful Lindstrom got up and walked up to Simmons, who met her with a sisterly embrace and sage advice.

“So, as she comes up, right now, she’s new to this—she [has] stage fright. But you got this… like the woman that he taught you to be. Represent him. Thank you guys, and I love y’all.”

The touching display of sisterhood sent a shockwave through social media. Fans were delighted to see the women in DMX’s life love on each other.

The level of maturity & grace that Tashera Simmons had today was remarkable. Especially when she embraced DMX’s fiancé Desiree,” tweeted one viewer.

“THIS WAS SO POWERFUL. Tashera Simmons acknowledging DMX’s fiancée Desiree. Man, the power of the black woman. Unapologetic Exquisite Black Queens… Respect is Mandatory! I’m in awe of both women,” wrote another fan.

The homegoing service was hosted at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and featured speeches from Eve, Swizz Beatz and Nas. Several of the rapper’s children also gave remarks.

The service also included a performance from Kanye West and his Sunday Service Choir. It was followed by a procession led by the Ruff Ryders and a monster truck carrying DMX’s casket. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only 200 people were allowed to attend, but the event was live-streamed by BET.

DMX must be smiling from heaven.
