Actress Meagan Good’s ex-husband and pastor DeVon Franklin revealed he had to “mourn the loss” of his marriage during a Sunday service.
Franklin has been outspoken about his pain through the divorce process in 2022, emphasizing his dealing with the pain instead of ignoring it.
During part three of his “Unmarried & Unbothered” teaching, the Christian-based motivational speaker preached about the hardships of accepting the loss of a relationship and the mental turmoil losing it causes. He added that many would hold on to the pain instead of going through the process.
He then testified how he overcame his inner struggles amid his and Good’s divorce.
“I had to take the time to mourn the loss of my marriage,” he said. “And say, ‘God, I don’t understand why. Why did this happen? What was going on?’ And God said, ‘There are certain things you may never get the full answer to.'”
Franklin encouraged the crowd to trust that “all things are working for your good. Even the breakups that you didn’t pray for.”
Franklin killed the message when he said God uses the breakup to build his children up.
“But it’s okay to acknowledge the loss,” the 45-year-old assured. “So often in my experience in church, we want to override how we feel. I’m not asking you to override how you feel. I’m saying get in touch with it so you can heal. Because in the feeling, that’s where the healing is.”
The film producer added, “I can’t get delivered from my broken heart if I don’t acknowledge my heart is broken.”
Sis2Sis reported that Good and Fraklin announced the end of their nine-year marriage at the end of 2021, later revealing that their conflicting schedules hindered them from having quality time together.
In an interview with talk show host Tamron Hall, Franklin shared he had to go through his healing process instead of pretending to be okay while ignoring the opinions of those on the outside.
