DeVon Franklin, renowned author and producer, recently shared his journey of healing following his divorce from Meagan Good, his partner of nine years.
During an appearance on the “Tamron Hall Show,” Franklin spoke candidly about allowing himself to fully experience the pain of the separation in order to heal and grow.
In his interview, Franklin emphasized the importance of focusing on his own healing process and not worrying about the opinions of others. He recognized that pain can be a powerful teacher and decided to sit with his pain instead of trying to push through it. By doing so, he discovered valuable insights about himself and what was truly going on inside.
“I really tried not to worry about anybody else, but just focus on the healing process and committing to that,” he said. “Because no matter what, that pain is a teacher. Instead of me trying to push through it, I really had to sit in that pain.”
“Because we don’t like pain, we’re always trying to feel good,” he later said. “Our feelings are trying to reveal… what’s really going on in the inside.”
Franklin and Good exchanged vows in 2012 in a picturesque ceremony in Malibu, California. In December 2021, they jointly announced their separation on their respective Instagram pages, stating that it was the next best chapter in the evolution of their love.
“There’s no one at fault. We believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our love,” they wrote in the statement at the time.

The former couple first met while working on the film “Jumping the Broom” in 2011, as they revealed during a previous appearance on the “Tamron Hall Show” in 2019. Their relationship blossomed after reconnecting at the movie’s premiere, nine months after filming. Good, who starred in the film, and Franklin, who was an executive with Sony Pictures at the time, discovered a deep connection that led to their nine-year partnership.
While the healing process after a separation can be challenging, Franklin’s willingness to embrace the pain and commit to his personal growth is an inspiring example. Both he and Good have embarked on new chapters in their lives, and their story serves as a reminder that healing and self-discovery can emerge from even the most difficult circumstances.
