Fresh on the heels of their divorce announcement, DeVon Franklin made plans to keep his money to himself.
According to The Blast, he filed legal documents that claimed that he and his estranged wife – actress Meagan Good, were officially separated four months ago. The date on court documents was listed as August 21. Franklin also cited irreconcilable differences for the reason their nine-year marriage is ending. The couple wed in June 2012.
The publication also reported that Franklin petitioned the court to “terminate” the option to grant spousal support to either party and explained that the request is typical for couples with prenup agreements.
Franklin appeared to be setting up his legal defense by disclosing a separation date to the court. After the proposed date, community property is no longer applicable.
The couple mutually announced their divorce earlier this week, saying, “After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to go into our futures separately but forever connected. We celebrate almost a decade of marriage together and a love that is eternal. There’s no one at fault. We believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our love.”
They continued, “We are incredibly grateful for the life-changing years we’ve spent together as husband and wife. We are also extremely thankful to God for the testimony being created inside us both and for blessing our lives with each other.”
The couple had no children during the almost decade-long marriage. According to Celebrity Net Worth’s site, Franklin’s net worth is $5 million, and Good’s is the same.
We’ll keep you posted as more details emerge regarding their union as the proceedings continue.
