Legendary actor Denzel Washington recently did a press tour for his film, The Tragedy of Macbeth, and he discussed watching his son John David Washington act in the movie, Tenet.
Washington was doing a virtual press tour when he spoke with Kevin McCarthy for his podcast ReelBlend about the surreal experience of watching his son star in the sci-fi film.
Washington viewed the film with John David in a private theater at the home of the film’s director, Chris Nolan. McCarthy posted a clip of the interview on Twitter last month with a caption.
“Love this story Denzel Washington told me about going to Christopher Nolan’s house to watch TENET.
The two-time Academy Award-winning actor was asked if he’d seen the film, and Washington spoke on the surreal experience of viewing the film as the star’s father.
“You know, it was too weird,” said Washington. “First of all, we went to Chris’ house, screened it in his theater. So, I’m sitting here now, now I’m watching my son starring in a Christopher Nolan movie in Christopher Nolan’s house. So, there was a lot going on, you know? I’m looking at my son, and I’m like, ‘He sounds like me.’ I’m like, ‘Of course he sounds like you, stupid, he is your son’ You know, there were so many things that I was experiencing that… you know, as a father.
He also said that he’d love to work with Nolan and looked at the camera while saying, “Chris, call me. Call me, Chris,” with a smile.
