Dennis Rodman’s Daughter Trinity To Be The Highest-Paid Player In National Women’s Soccer League History

Nineteen-year-old Trinity Rodman, daughter of iconic NBA star Dennis Rodman, signed a new contract with the Washington Spirit, making her the highest-paid player in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

Rodman’s four-year deal is worth over $1.1 million, reported The Washington Post. Octagon Soccer, the sports agency that began representing her in January 2021, congratulated her via their Twitter page.

“Congrats to @trinity_rodman on signing a landmark deal with the @WashSpirit and becoming the highest-paid player in @NSWL HISTORY!” they wrote.

Spirit Coach Kris Ward also expressed her excitement for Rodman’s new journey ahead.

“We’re incredibly excited to have Trin as a part of the Spirit family for at least the next three seasons,” she said. “She has a truly special career ahead of her and makes us a better club on all fronts.”

Last season, Rodman was NSWL’s Rookie of the Year, with seven goals and seven assists and led Spirit to win the league championship. She was the second overall draft pick and quickly became the youngest American goal scorer in NSWL history.

“I have grown up pretty fast, but I am young. This first year was so good and ended so well…where I am now, I am extremely happy,” Rodman reportedly gushed.

Last year, she credited her team for assisting her in becoming the athlete she has grown into today.

“My team has helped me a lot being a really young player and very new, it’s definitely a lot faster, girls are a lot stronger, a lot more intelligent, at this level,” she said. “I think just getting advice from my teammates in scrimmages and practices, I’ve been able to kind of think ahead. And I think that’s a huge part of what’s helped me in the game.”

During the Spirit’s playoffs, the talented soccer player had a touching moment with her father, who surprised her by attending her game. She said he wasn’t really present in her life, and they don’t see eye to eye, but she was happy that he showed up.

“I was shocked, overwhelmed, happy, sad, everything,” she shared with a photo of her embracing her dad on Instagram. “We don’t have the best relationship, but at the end of the day, he’s human, I’m human… he’s my dad, and I’m his little girl that will never change. I will improve and look forward every day as I hope he does.

Rodman commended her dad for being an exceptional athlete but said she was ready to establish her own name in sports.

“He was an amazing athlete, and I got those genes from him, but I’m excited to be known as Trinity Rodman and not just as Rodman’s daughter.”
