Debbi Morgan Reunites With ‘All My Children’ Love, Darnell Williams, On ‘Our Kind Of People’

Angie and Jesse have reunited, and it feels so good! Actress Debbi Morgan reunited with her co-star Darnell Williams on the set of Our Kind Of People.

The Lee Daniels’ drama focuses on wealthy Black folks living on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts and stars Joe Morton, Yaya DaCosta, and Morris Chestnut.

Morgan spoke

about the episode in an interview published on Jan. 17 with TVLine and joked about the first scene their characters shot on Our Kind Of People.

“We were shooting the scene when Darnell’s character walks through the door for the first time,” said Morgan. “And it was the first time we see this character on the show, and I looked at him and shouted, ‘Jesse!’ The director had to yell cut and everyone fell out laughing. It was hilarious. I knew that wasn’t his name on ‘Our Kind of People’ but I couldn’t help myself. We worked together for so many years as Angie and Jesse and that’s the first thing that came to my mind.”

Morgan also posted a video of the duo reminiscing on her Instagram account. She and Williams recalled her audition for All My Children more than 30 years ago.

“*Spoiler Alert*,” wrote Morgan. “Behind the scenes footage of @therealdarnellwilliams and I’s reunion on @ourkindofpeoplefox last night. If you didn’t see it yet, you better go watch now on @foxtv 😉

Morgan also revealed that Our Kind Of People

might not receive a second season due to the ratings, noting that the show does well on Hulu but that ratings are based on live broadcasts only.

“Unfortunately, we’re not doing well in live broadcasts but we’ve been killing it streaming on Hulu,” said Morgan. “I hope Fox is considering that progression and that that’s enough to bring us back. Our Kind of People is a part of this new Black renaissance on TV and film that allows us to marinate in our Blackness and celebrate our skin, and our hair, and our culture, and I don’t want that to end.”

You can watch the Our Kind Of People episode with Debbie Morgan and Darnell Williams on FOX and HULU.
