Da Brat is pregnant with her first child.
The 48-year-old Chicago rapper made the announcement on Tuesday via social media and in an exclusive with People Magazine.
Brat dropped a photo of herself showing off a growing pregnant belly and rocking Chicago Bulls drip. The glowing emcee wrote a short caption that read, “BLESSINGS all 2023 ❤️❤️❤.”

She also thanked Hope Fertility in the post. Dr. Obehi Asemota founded the “boutique fertility clinic” in Metro Atlanta.
Brat told People Magazine about her pregnancy, saying, “It’s been quite a journey. There’s a lot of stuff we learned about women over the age of 40.
The “That’s What I’m Looking For” rapper and her wife of one year, Jessica Harris-Dupart, 41, began exploring options to grow their family shortly after they married in February 2022. She’s almost five months pregnant and is glowing.
“It started as a joke; we were like, ‘We’re extending our family!’ But then we got a huge response. It was like, ‘Oh my God do we want to actually have kids, and if we do, girl, we better hurry up!'”
Da Brat said motherhood “wasn’t in the cards” for her, and Jessica already had three children from a prior relationship. But the hard-nosed femcee had a change of heart after falling in love and marrying her mogul wife.
“I never thought I was going to have kids. I just thought it wasn’t in the cards for me. I’ve had a great career, a full life. I felt like because I didn’t get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn’t going to happen for me. I started looking at life so differently. I was like; I want a little me with you. Something special from the both of us that we can share and raise and love unconditionally.”
Da Brat wasn’t sure if she wanted to be pregnant.
“I was like, nothing’s gonna come out of me!”
“We had a little tug-o-war initially, but I felt like she should have the experience. She is so nurturing,” Jessica said, gushing about her wife’s “nurturing” nature.
The couple’s journey to parenthood has had its share of bumps along the way. Jessica and her wife underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF) in June.
During a June appearance on The Tamron Hall Show, the couple discussed the difficult road Jessica faced after having eggs implanted inside the 41-year-old mother of three’s uterus.
“We haven’t spoken about it much on social media because we have had some ups and some downs on our journey — some complications, but we are still in the process. “I was hospitalized with blood clots,” Jessica said, explaining her and Brat’s challenges to the show’s hostess. “We want a baby together.”

“We are NOT stopping our journey; we are not discouraged. No matter the ups and downs, NO matter the adversity, we will see this through. Thanks to all those that have supported us in the process, and just know we will have a great testimony through this. IVF can be stressful, but the reward will be worth it all,” Jessica wrote on Instagram.
She ultimately suffered a miscarriage.
We hope Da Brat’s pregnancy goes well, and we wish the couple the best for the little bun in the oven.
