Cuba Gooding Jr.’s Grope Accuser Wins Case After Actor Failed To Respond For Over A Year

Academy Award-winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr. was hit with a lawsuit in October 2019 after accuser Natasha Ashworth alleged that the Boyz n the Hood star pinched her butt and tried more than once to “grope her backside,” Page Six reported. Nearly two years later, Ashworth has won the case after Gooding failed to respond for over a year.

Gooding’s accuser claimed that, while serving him drinks at New York City’s Tao Downtown Nightclub, he touched her butt and allegedly grew upset,

claiming he wouldn’t return to the bar due to Ashworth rejecting his advances, according to Page Six. He also allegedly stated, “Aw, that’s no fun,” after she asked him to stop touching her.

Following Ashworth filing the lawsuit in 2019, the “Radio” actor failed to hire a civil attorney to defend him in the case. According to Page Six, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Alexander Tisch decided on Wednesday, June 2, to grant the accuser’s request, offering a default judgment on her assault and battery claims.

According to Law.com’s legal dictionary, judges often offer

“default judgments” when “a defendant in a lawsuit fails to respond to a complaint in the time set by law (commonly 20 or 30 days),”

A later trial will decide the damages owed to Ashworth. Unfortunately, this is only one case in the midst of Gooding’s current sexual misconduct and assault scandal.

According to CNN, Manhattan prosecutors claimed last August that after Ashworth went public with her story, more women began to reveal their experiences of “unwanted touching” from Gooding, 53. At the time, Gooding’s number of accusers had

grown to 30.

In June 2019, he was accused of inappropriately touching another woman at Magic Hour Rooftop Bar and Lounge, another NYC nightclub. Claiming that Gooding was drunk at the time, she said that he grabbed her, leading to an argument so bad that security had to break up the two, Page Six reported.

Gooding has maintained his innocence against his accusers.
