Creed III has reached major box office success since hitting theaters last weekend (March 3). The directorial debut of lead actor Michael B. Jordanâs landed over $100 million globally.
According to The Numbers, Creed III gained $62,655,104 domestically and $43,000,000 internationally, making the film the highest-grossing film this week. Coming in second place is Elizabeth Banksâ movie Cocaine Bear and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania took third.
In addition to Jordanâs film being the number one film at the box office, it also received an A- score on Cinema Score. Ryan Cooglerâs 2015 Creed (the Creed franchise’s first film) made a worldwide gross of $173,567,581 and Creed II made over $200 million. In other words, this is the highest the Creed/Rocky franchise has earned in just the opening weekend.
Creed III also earned 87% Tomatometer and 96% audience scores.
On Rotten Tomatoes, AV Clubâs Murtada Elfadl wrote in his review of the film, âCreed III captures the spectacle and ceremony of boxing, providing the audience with an entertaining thrill ride. It doesnât reinvent the wheel, owing much to its predecessors in the Rocky and Creed series in story structure and character development.â
Tom Beasley from The Digital Fix wrote, âA hell of a calling card for its director, who flexes every muscle as both actor and filmmaker to construct a movie that, by excluding the Stallone-shaped elephant in the room, sees Creed break out on its own.â
Kyle Logan from Cultured Vultures said, “Despite some overwrought melodrama and questionable politics, Creed III succeeds as an emotionally powerful and visually exciting boxing movie.â
