Costa Rica’s first Black woman-owned travel agency, Soul Life Travel, is amping up travelers’ experiences with a six-day adventure to Puerto Viejo to provide the ultimate experience of a lifetime exploring Afro-Latin culture.
“A lot of our other tours allow people to go to different places, but with this one, it’s perfect if you don’t have a lot of time, but you want to see the Caribbean side,” The travel agency owner, Sadie Jordan, told Travel Noire. “This is a great way to stay put in one area all while being around the beautiful culture of the Afro-Costa Rican people.”
During their time in Costa Rica, travelers will immerse themselves in the Afro-Latin culture in Costa Rica through activities like an Afro-Caribbean farm-to-table experience, chocolate making, waterfall hikes, snorkeling and kayaking.
“This is one of our most popular tours, especially for people who don’t realize there is a Black culture here,” Jordan said.
The price includes airport transfers and ground transportation in Costa Rica, hotel accommodations, daily breakfast, select lunches and dinners (itinerary), and authentic activities and sightseeing. Local English-speaking guides lead tours.
Not included in the price are airfare, travel insurance, dinner and lunches that aren’t included in the itinerary, and fees for passports or visas.
Jordan and her partner, Emily Orgias, started Soul Life Travel after family and friends continuously asked them for travel tips and advice, creating a business out of it.
Jordan and Orgias have over ten years of experience in the travel industry and more than 15 years of “globetrotting” experience. According to their website, their agency aims to offer people “unique and authentic tours that compete against” the dangerous trend of irresponsible tourism.
They operate by partnering with only the best locally-run places in Costa Rica that work on their own terms to ensure unforgettable experiences.
