A car belonging to Congresswoman Cori Bush, D-St. Louis, was hit by gunfire early Saturday morning.
According to the Atlanta Black Star, a source close to the representative said the vehicle was parked in the St. Louis area and Bush was not in the vehicle at the time and was not injured. There was also no evidence that she was the target of the attack, the spokesperson added.
In a statement on Twitter, Bush also confirmed the event, linking to a KSDK news article.
“I’m touched by everyone who has reached out. Thankfully no one was harmed. But any act of gun violence shakes your soul.”

Former Ohio State Sen. Nina Turner used her social media platform to support Bush, writing, “I love you and I am so sorry you, your family and team have to endure this just because you speak for justice.”
This is not the first time that Bush has had her car assaulted with gunfire. In 2020, she shared a story on Twitter and tweeted, “My car took the bullets. I am safe. When I say that I am the people I serve, it’s not a slogan! A bullet went through my door handle on one side of the car, another went through my tire on the other side. I’m committed to taking us from ‘surviving St. Louis’ to ‘living it.’”
