Comedians Leslie Jones, Wanda Sykes And D.L. Hughley Will Be Guest Hosts For ‘The Daily Show’

Comedy Central announced its first five guest hosts for The Daily Show after Trevor Noah departed from the show as the host.

According to a press release, Leslie Jones, Wanda Sykes and D.L. Hughley, prominent Black comedians, will be among the first five guest hosts for the show. The Daily Show is expected to return on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 11 p.m. ET/PT.

Saturday Night Live alum Jones will kick off the first week (Jan. 17), Sykes will take the second week (Jan. 23). Hughley will do the third week (Jan. 30). Along with the first three, actress and comedian Chelsea Handler will host the week of Feb. 6. School of Rock

and Wreck-It Ralph actress Sarah Silverman will host the week of Feb. 13.

The press release also mentioned Al Franken, John Leguizamo, Hasan Minhaj, Kal Penn, and Marlon Wayans would be hosting but said the dates for their hosting would be announced eventually.

The show posted the announcement on Instagram.

Comedy Central announced the “comedy greats and all-star correspondents” in early December but didn’t release dates.

“As we enter Trevor’s final week, we want to thank him for his many contributions, “Chris McCarthy, President/CEO of Paramount Media Networks, said. “Trevor redefined the show, as did Jon Stewart before him, and as we look to the future, we are excited to reimagine it yet again with the help of this incredible list of talent and correspondents along with the immensely talented Daily Show team.”

A couple of months ago, Noah announced he was leaving The Daily Show.

“I loved hosting the show. It’s been one of my greatest challenges. It’s been one of my greatest joys,” he said during his monologue. “I’ve loved trying to figure out how to make people laugh even when the stories are particularly s**tty on the worst days. We’ve laughed together, and we’ve cried together. But after seven years, I feel like it’s time.”
