Actor Columbus Short was arrested again for domestic violence on Wednesday night, police said.
According to TMZ, police arrived at the San Fernando Valley home at around 10:30 p.m. over a verbal dispute between Short and his wife Aida Abramyan that reportedly turned physical.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, Columbus, 39, claimed that his wife had punched him in the face. However, he didn’t have any marks or bruises to back up the claim. Police said when they spoke to the former Scandal star’s wife, she suffered minor injuries from the scuffle.
Though the injury didn’t require medical attention, Short was arrested for felony domestic violence due to his wife’s injury.
This isn’t the first time the 39-year-old has faced domestic violence charges.
In November 2018, Short was arrested on domestic violence charges after prosecutors said he hit Abramyan during an argument.
While Short was already on probation for attacking a man during a bar fight in 2014, the Hollywood actor served one year in prison for violating his probation. He pleaded no contest to hitting his wife and spent 34 days in jail.
The Missouri native was sentenced to three years probation and domestic violence education, TMZ reported.
In August 2016, Short announced his engagement to Abramyan, and the couple married in December, according to the Sun. After nearly six years of marriage, the couple has two sons together.
Abramyan earned Bachelor’s degree in English Literature degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2008.
Last year, Short, a former backup dancer for Brittney Spears, revealed that he and the pop star allegedly had a fling in 2003. The choreographer shared detailed information in his 2020 autobiography, “Short Stories,” about their relationship. He said Spears made the first move while he was a dancer and producer for the “Toxic” artist, and the two slept together once on a trip to Rome, Page Six reported.
“I was next to [Britney] while she was on the phone with them crying while she had it on speaker.”
He claims he overheard her parents ask, “Why are you f–king that n—-r?”
He continued saying, “Britney looked at me so apologetically, knowing I’d heard it. I shook my head and didn’t say anything, because what was there to say?”
Short appeared on media personality Jazzie Belle’s Youtube show and stated that Spears family referenced him using the N-word on multiple occasions.
The discussion starts at 47:12.
“I wasn’t shocked when it happened. Look where they’re from … they’re from Louisiana. The way it came out was so effortless, like that’s how they speak. I wasn’t shocked and I wasn’t hurt by it, I was just like, ‘Wow, this is … OK … I know who I am around here.’” He added that, “Because they have black bodyguards doesn’t mean behind closed doors they don’t use that word.”
There are no pending charges against Short at this time.
