The Sports Illustrated photoshoot took place in Barbados, where the “One, Two Step” singer rocked about ten different swimsuits. One swimsuit was more along the lines of denim and made by Calecie. Another one is a leopard bustier-style made by LaQuan Smith, which is believed to be the one she wears on the actual cover with a cowboy hat.
The magazine shared how the singer fits their model’s multifaceted expectations with her being successful in her music career and charitable. Ciara gives back to the community through her philanthropic acts, like starting the Why Not You Foundation with her husband Russell Wilson, which focuses on fighting poverty and empowering the youth. Ciara also complements their plan to diversify its magazine.
“Ciara has seen enormous success as a performer while simultaneously focusing on her passion for philanthropy and service,” MJ Day, the editor of SI Swimsuit, said.
Kim Kardashian, Maye Musk, and Yumi Nu are the other cover stars headlining the magazine and contributing to its diversity.
“The journey we’ve been on—to break out of the mold the world put us in—may sound familiar,” Day said. “It’s certainly familiar to the women we’ve chosen to be our cover models: Maye, Ciara, Yumi, Kim. So in this issue, we encourage readers to see these models as we see them: multifaceted, multitalented—and sexy while they’re at it.”
“The world may label them one way, but we want to focus our lens on all the ways they see themselves and how they own who they are,” Day added. “No matter your age, whether you’re a new mom, partner, sister, entertainer, athlete, entrepreneur, advocate, student, mentor, role model, leader or dreamer—or all of the above—we want to celebrate these women, their evolution and the many dimensions of who they are.”
Wilson expressed how proud he was of his wife’s recent achievement, calling her “the most beautiful woman in the world.”
