Emmy Award-winning comedian, actor, and producer Chris Rock said he was “not concerned” with the Smiths following Jada Pinkett-Smith’s call for reconciliation months after the Oscars slap incident.

According to ET, a source close to Rock told the outlet he hasn’t paid Pinkett-Smith’s “plea” any attention.

“He’s not concerned with the Smiths at the moment. He’s touring, and he’s preparing for a comedy special,” the unnamed source said. The person added that he wasn’t tied up with the Hollywood scene because he was too busy focusing on himself.

On Jun. 1, Pinkett-Smith called for a truce between the comedian and her husband during the latest episode of her hit Facebook series, Red Table Talk.

“Now, about Oscar night, my deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile,” she said. “The state of the world today, we need them both. And we all actually need one other more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years, and that keeps figuring this thing called life together.”

Rock was slapped in the face by Oscar Award-winning actor Will Smith during the live broadcast of the 2022 Oscars Awards ceremony on Mar. 27. Smith smacked him in retaliation for a joke he made about Pinkett-Smith’s bald head, which she shaved due to suffering from alopecia.

“I love ya. G.I. Jane 2 can’t wait to see it. Aight?” the 57-year-old said on stage while pointing to the King Richard actor’s wife.

Smith publicly apologized via an Instagram statement on Mar. 29, but Rock didn’t immediately respond. Instead, he took his time to open up about the incident and eventually joked about it during recent comedy show appearances.

“I got smacked by the softest n***a that ever rapped,” he said during a secret comedy show thrown by fellow award-winning comedian Dave Chappelle on May 5. His sentiments were in response to Chappelle’s recollection of being attacked

by 23-year-old Isaiah Lee while doing stand-up at Netflix Is A Joke: The Festival on May 4. Rock was even brought out during his set that day and asked if the attacker was Smith. “Was that Will Smith?” he joked.

His “Ego Death” comedy tour kicked off on Apr. 2, and his next show is scheduled to take place on Jun. 8.
