Chris Rock Doesn’t Plan On Speaking On Oscar Slap Until He Gets Paid

"Life is good. I got my hearing back." Chris Rock said.

Until he gets paid, comedian Chris Rock won’t address the slap that occurred during the 94th Oscars. This was announced during his comedy show at Fantasy Springs in Indio, CA, on Friday night.

“I’m OK. I have a whole show, and I’m not talking about that until I get paid,” Rock said during his show at Fantasy Springs in California.

When Rock started his “Ego Death” tour in Boston at the Wilbur, it was right after the Oscars incident, which he addressed briefly with the audience.

“I’m still kind of processing what happened,” Rock explained to his audience in Boston. “So, at some point, I’ll talk bout that s**t, and it’ll be serious, and it’ll be funny.”

Tickets started to immediately sell out for his previous shows at the Wilbur and Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. Tickets were sold for $51 to $71 until resellers began selling them at higher prices. Show attendees were not allowed to have their cellphones in the building and were given a locking pouch to place their mobile devices in.

Rock’s tour comes after Will Smith walked onto the stage during the Academy Awards and slapped Rock for a joke about Jada Pinkett Smit. During his acceptance speech after winning his first Oscar for best actor for his role in King Richard, Smith apologized to the Academy for his actions. He apologized to Rock in an Instagram post.

“Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear, and I reacted emotionally,” Smith posted. “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris.”

The Academy announced that Smith would be confined from all Academy events for ten years, including the Oscars.
