Could a Verzuz battle between Chris Brown and Usher happen soon?
The “No Guidance” singer appeared on the latest episode of the Drink Champs podcast alongside hosts DJ EFN and N.O.R.E. and said that fans have been calling for him to be the latest artist to go hit after hit with another talented musician on the platform.
“They want me to do it with Usher,” the 32-year-old told the hosts, “It only makes sense, but it’s got to make more sense.”
Brown said that if the matchup does happen, he would want both artists to be celebrated for their artistic talent in the battle.
“I can’t act like he ain’t a pioneer as well– that’s Usher,” Brown explained. He said the event would be something the fans would enjoy, adding that his musical catalog has too many songs to decide.

Aside from going up against the “Confessions” artist, the Virginia native said he would also entertain the idea of a Verzuz battle with rapper-singer Drake.
âI mean, you know what?â Brown said. âThat would be a formidable champ. ⊠But you gotta think, when we go back to genres, you know what the consensus was? âNah, they donât do the same music.ââ
Brown added that he sings “95 percent” of his songs while comparing the two artists’ musical catalogs.
âI ainât ducking no smoke but at the same time I know heâs a formidable opponent,â he said. âI know ⊠that n***a got hits, just like I got hits.â
Verzuz was created at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when Timbaland and Swizz Beatz were the first two artists to face off during the highly anticipated matchup in March 2020. Since then, there have been legendary matchups, including Patti Labelle v. Gladys Knight, Isley Brothers v. Earth, Wind and Fire, Teddy Riley v. Babyface, and many more.
