Chloe Bailey Addresses Backlash Over Steamy ‘Swarm’ Sex Scene With Damson Idris

Chloe Bailey is another Disney actress facing scrutiny for being grown grown. The 24-year-old actress and singer (emphasis on the age) received backlash for her steamy sex scene in Amazon Prime’s Swarm with castmate Damson Idris.

In an interview on Big Boy TV, Bailey spoke about how she felt about the hate she accumulated for the viral scene while her on-camera counterpart didn’t.

At the start of the conversation, Big Boy told the “Let it Shine” artist that he couldn’t see

anything wrong with the scene. She said to him that she saw it as art.

“I’m an actress, and I feel like it’s about art,” Bailey responded. “When I first received the script, I was just like (gasp). It was just insane and gorgeous. I think people are actually forgetting the plot of that scene,” Bailey said. “It’s not about seeing me in the mirror of that scene, but because I think it’s me doing it, that’s what blows it out of proportion. But I’m barely seen for two seconds in that.”

The scene appeared in the first two minutes of Swarm’s first episode. It involved Marissa (Bailey’s character) and her boyfriend Khalid (Idris’ character) being intimate in the bedroom. That’s when Marissa’s sister, Dre (portrayed by Dominique Fishback), stumbled upon the two in action. In the camera frame, Dre is seen

in the doorway, while the mirror on the wall reflects the couple on the bed. Part of Bailey’s back and leg is shown but nothing else. The next shot is Idris’ naked body and the side of Bailey’s leg.

Nothing pornographic, yet viewers weren’t okay with it, specifically Bailey’s part in the scene, despite Idris being in it.

“I’m an actress, I was doing my job, and I think people just kind of got to remember I’m an adult and I’m an artist,” the “Have Mercy” singer said. “Nothing was seen that they haven’t seen from me. You didn’t see nipples…nothing.”

She said when she learned of the sex scene, she didn’t read it as her doing it but as Marissa’s scene while her sister Dre was watching.

“That’s what people are forgetting,” she continued. “It’s about the tension between Damson and Dom, who did incredible acting in this show, and I was just seen in a reflection for two seconds.”
