Charlamagne Tha God took the high road and apologized after making comments about former NBA player Kwame Brown.
According to Complex, the radio host gave himself his infamous “Donkey of the Day” award on Monday for making comments about Brown’s family. The Breakfast Club co-host explained that he went too far when touching on the fellow South Carolina native’s personal life. He also said he was urged to apologize.
This all comes from comments made on a recent episode of the “All The Smoke” podcast associated with Charlamagne’s Black Effect Network. Charlamagne made several comments about Brown and spread rumors about Brown’s family.
During the episode, Charlamagne said that Brown’s father is serving life for allegedly beating his girlfriend with an axe handle and burying her alive. He also said Kwame’s brother shot the mother of his child multiple times then tried to kill himself as well as claiming that another one of Brown’s brothers is in jail for murder.

Charlamagne reportedly sent a cease and desist letter to Brown followed by his public apology.
“Since I unintentionally caused trauma, I need to be intentional about causing healing,” said Charlamagne.
I’m sure I caused pain for not only Kwame Brown but for his family—‘specially, his family in my hometown of Moncks Corner, South Carolina. You know how I know? Because I spoke to a few of them,” he said. “I was apologizing for triggering them.”
