Rapper Cardi B and her husband Offset shut down Tate Kobang, a Nicki Minaj stan and producer, after he “subbed” her in a Tweet on Sunday, July 30, using a Minaj lyric.
Sunday afternoon, Kobang tweeted, “All those PR stunts but b***h…,” a lyric from Minaj and Coi Leray’s “Blick Blick.”

This tweet came at the heels of Cardi’s viral video where she threw her microphone at a concertgoer who chucked water at her as she performed “Bodak Yellow” at the Drai’s Beach Club in Las Vegas.
Many believed the moment was a PR stunt for her and Offset’s new song, “Jealousy,” after videos revealed that the rapper and her DJ encouraged fans to splash her with water. Fans captured Cardi saying that the water felt good and telling her fans to “put that s**t in my p***y, b***h.”

However, there was a window where Cardi allowed fans to throw water, and the person chose to toss water outside the permitted time.

Ostensibly echoing the PR stunt allegations, Kobang tweeted the Minaj lyrics, causing the “Money” rapper to respond.
“HOW YOU A GROWN A** MAN SUBBING ME? Idgaf who gassin’ you, grown a** man. Watch your mouth when you addressing me,” Cardi B tweeted, which was deleted.
Offset stepped in, asking for Kobang’s location in a since-deleted tweet. Kobang tweeted that he was at Lenox Square Mall before deleting it.
The Neighborhood Talk posted screenshots of the beef on its account, and Cardi commented that Kobang’s tweet with Minaj’s lyric was his “third tweet” about her.

While the producer, who has produced for Beyoncé and Minaj, hasn’t mentioned Cardi in tweets, social media users pointed out some activities in his likes that apparently show shade towards Cardi.
For example, the Maryland native reportedly liked a May 2023 video of Minaj fans outside at the Met Gala rapping to “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” as Cardi posed on the red carpet.

He also liked a tweet that countered a Twitter post that praised Cardi for collaborating with up-and-coming artists. The counter tweet read, “If this is any sort of shade, you failed. ‘Cause Nicki is the same girl who invited Azealia Banks to open for her on tour in 2012; same girl who signed Tate Kobang, an up & coming rapper, to her new label; same girl who just put 5 female rappers on her #1 song. I can go on.”

Cardi agreed with her updates account that Kobang’s behavior was “weird.”
