Candace Owens might be on the hook for $30,000 after Washington County Republican Party lost money following a cancellation due to Owens’ breastfeeding schedule.
Washington County Republican Party was on Owens’ neck after the conservative commentator canceled an appearance at their Lincoln Day fundraiser, reported The Spectrum. Ironically, the event occurred on Juneteenth.
Although the event had been negotiated a year before, Owens reportedly waited until May 25 to cancel on the WCRP. In an email to WCRP chairperson Lesa Sandberg, Owens’ manager Gina Florio blamed the cancelation on Owens’ struggles as a new mother.
“So sorry to have to do this, but [Owens] isn’t going to be able to do this event on June 19. She has been struggling with several of her past events because of her rigorous breastfeeding and pumping schedule,” the email read.
“Especially when travel days are very demanding because St. George is so far away that we can’t find reasonable commercial flights that allows her to maintain her pumping schedule and get home soon enough. She sends her deepest apologies, and hopefully, we can work something out in the future,” Florio continued.
Sandberg offered to make accommodations, including direct flights to Las Vegas and Salt Lake in addition to a shuttle to the event, but Owens didn’t budge.
“Nothing we offered was good enough for her short of that chartered flight,” Sandberg told The Spectrum.
WCRP was in a bind because the organization already made several non-refundable purchases, including airfare and travel accommodations for Owens. Additionally, they had to issue $17,000 in refunds for the sold-out event.
Florio claims a contract was never signed, and her client was not paid for the appearance. After Sandberg received a legal opinion from a lawyer, Owens’ camp ceased contact.
To make matters worse, NewsOne tracked down evidence Owens lied about her whereabouts on June 19. The receipts allegedly show her cheesing with Trump supporter and country singer Jason Aldean and his family.
Owens took shots at Sandberg in an emailed statement to Spectrum.
“[My issue] is specifically with Lesa Sandberg, who thinks lawyering up against nursing mothers and then running to the press to leak private email correspondences is at all an appropriate manner of dealing with a genuine situation regarding a nursing newborn,” she told the outlet.
Ooooh, the conservative girls are fighting.
