There’s an unrealistic idea that women should appear a certain way after giving birth because many female celebrities do it. They give birth and then return to the red carpet in weeks as though they never went through childbirth—introducing snapback culture. P-Valley actress Miracle Watts shut that notion down flawlessly in an Instagram post.

The model, actress and influencer posted two bathroom selfies with her looking gorgeous in black lingerie, showing off her curves and her beautiful reminder of when she got to be one with her baby boy before pushing him out into the world.
“I was going back and forth on posting…But then I was like, F$&@ it. Somebody has to keep it real (it’s my duty to moms)! Not every woman snaps back without hard work,” she wrote in the caption.
“Not every woman snaps back without hard work,” she continued in the post. “This is coming from a person whom everyone thought was going to snap back with no stretch marks (beautiful stories). I just wouldn’t feel like my authentic self to continue posting and hiding who I am today. I’m not perfect neither is my body. I’m a mother, and I AM PERFECTLY me!!! Love yourself through it all & KEEP IT SEXY!”
In the third slide of the post, Watts filmed her conversation with P-Valley actor and the father of her baby Tyler Lepley about the snapback culture.
Watts and Lepley announced the arrival of their baby boy last week in an Instagram post showing her and Lepley, who’s holding the son swaddled in a white blanket with a blue pacifier in his mouth.

Watts isn’t the only woman celebrity to speak out against the snapback culture. Chrissy Teigen, John Legend’s wife, interviewed with the Today Show and clarified how snapback culture had pressured many women to lose pregnancy weight quickly, using celebrities as an example. Teigen affirmed that the only reason celebrities can do it is because of money.
“Anyone in the public eye, we have all the help we could ever need to be able to shed everything,” she said. “We have nutritionists. We have dietitians. We have trainers. We have our own schedules. We have nannies. We have people who make it possible for us to get back into shape.”
Teigen added, “Nobody should feel like that’s normal or like that’s realistic.”
