Bryshere Gray Of ‘Empire’ Faces Jail Time & Probation After Pleading Guilty In Domestic Violence Case

In July 2020, Empire’s Bryshere Gray was arrested in Phoenix and charged with domestic battery after his wife, Candice Jimdar, was allegedly assaulted and strangled by the actor.

A little under one year later, the 27-year-old has pleaded guilty to felony aggravated assault in his domestic violence case, TMZ reported. He is expected to serve jail time and probation over the incident. Per his plea deal, Gray’s been sentenced to 10 days in county jail and three years of probation. Additionally, the young actor-rapper will have to pay restitution and

enroll in a “domestic violence offender treatment program.”

Following the assault last summer, Gray had a standoff with a SWAT team and crisis negotiators outside his home in Goodyear, a suburb located in Phoenix, Arizona.

Jimdar had alerted

a customer at a Circle K store that Gray had been beating her for “several hours at their home,” TMZ reported, prompting them to call 911.

ABC15 Journalist Zach Crenshaw obtained a release last July stating Gray’s wife’s injuries, which allegedly included “numerous visible injuries on her body also stated that she was strangled at one point by Gray and temporarily lost consciousness,” People Magazine reported.

Phoenix’s Goodyear Police Department released an online statement after detaining Gray.

Goodyear Police responded to a 911 call that an adult female victim had been allegedly assaulted at her Goodyear home by her husband, who she identified as Bryshere Gray, an actor on the TV series ‘Empire,’” the statement read

The release also noted that when officers attempted to talk with Gray, he refused to come out of his residence, prompting the SWAT and crisis negotiation teams to be called for assistance.

Jimdar was rushed to a nearby hospital and treated for her “non-life-threatening injuries.” At the same time, Gray eventually surrendered to officers and was charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

Once his 10 days in jail are done, Gray’s probation rules will kick in, preventing the actor from associating with any person who has a criminal record. He’s also prohibited from taking any illegal drugs or owning a firearm.
