Brianna Oyewo, a wife and mother, living in New York, decided to make a few lifestyle changes after she noticed that her weight had reached over 280 pounds in June 2020. According to People, the Buffalo native opted to ditch heavily-processed and fast food in favor of a plant-based diet and adopted a consistent exercise routine, leading to an over 130-pound weight loss over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Oyewo reportedly gave birth to her daughter in December 2019. But once the pandemic began in early 2020, the new mother found that she had a new reason to practice healthy habits, telling People, “I wasn’t just thinking about myself this time. I was thinking about my daughter, I was thinking about my husband, and how I wanted to be around for them.”

“You’re hearing all this stuff on the news about COVID and how if you’re obese, it sets you at greater risk for serious illness. I was concerned about my life and the life of my daughter. I didn’t want to die an early death because I couldn’t put the pizza down. I wanted to be here for my husband and my daughter,” Oyewo continued.
