Breaking News: DMX Passes Away At Age 50

Rapper DMX has gained his wings. The “No Love For Me” emcee passed away on April 9 at age 50 in a White Plains Hospital, according to the Associated Press.

DMX had been on life support since he suffered a heart attack induced by a drug overdose last Friday. It’s been a tumultuous week for his family. Sister 2 Sister reported that some of his children flew in on Monday to visit the ailing entertainer. On Tuesday evening, it was confirmed that may have been their final farewell, according to doctors’ bleak prognosis. The rapper’s loved ones had to make the decision to remove the 50-year-old man from life support after physicians performed exams to test his brain function. The beloved rapper remained in a vegetative state until his passing.

The 50-year-old father of 15 was reportedly without oxygen for nearly 30 minutes before he was rushed to a local hospital.

On April 8, @Saint on Twitter erroneously reported that DMX had died– causing a wave of mourning across the social media platform. The post caused the hashtag #RIPDMX to trend, and Twitter users asked for confirmation. The account eventually deleted the tweet, but not before the post had been retweeted thousands of times.

Comedienne Luenell also prematurely announced DMX’s death with a post to her Instagram story.

Around 10:45 on April 8, Luenell wrote, “It is over. My friend is gone. Soar w/ the birds. Join the best that ever did it. RIP…DMX.”

Luenell subsequently deleted the post from her IG story and replaced it with another one apologizing for the premature announcement of his passing.

It read, “When your spirit leaves and your organs fail you. The body becomes a shell. One becomes wrapped in the Lord’s arms. That’s what ‘I’ call gone. I’m sorry to all. #DMX.”

The two aforementioned announcements weren’t the first time DMX’s death was hastily announced. On April 6, Cocktails With Queens host Claudia Jordan tweeted that the 50-year-old had passed away. She quickly deleted the tweet and followed up with an apology.

“I’m sorry,” she wrote.

The former Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member admitted that she thought the media outlets had reported his passing.

The “Ready To Meet Him”  emcee’s manager dispelled the rumors of his death on his Instagram.

“Everybody, please stop with posting these rumors,” Steven Rifkind said. “DMX is still alive. Yes, he is on life support, but please, it’s not helping anybody by having them see these false rumors. Let the family relax for a night.”

DMX’s short– but troubled life was rife with addictions and demons he couldn’t defeat. His music will live on forever in our hearts.

Rest easy, X.
