Brandy Sued For $45,000 Ring She ‘Borrowed’ To Wear At The AMAs

Singer and actress Brandy Norwood is reportedly headed to court regarding a $45,000 ring she was supposed to wear to the American Music Awards. However, the ring has gone missing, and the owner has initiated a lawsuit against Norwood.

According to TMZ, the Queens actress and her stylist, Ashley Sean Thomas, were sued by Elle B. Mambetov, a fashion designer and Beverly Hills store owner. The court documents stated

that Norwood’s stylist spoke with Mambetov last year about borrowing clothing and jewelry for the 42-year-old to wear to the AMA’s held in November. The fashion designer allowed them to borrow some outfits and a Dreamboule Big Bang Diamond Ring.

While Norwood and her stylist allegedly never returned the ring, the Beverly Hills owner claimed that the piece of jewelry is at an estimated value of $45,000. She said Thomas informed her that the ring was last seen at the musician’s Calabasas estate, the lawsuit said.

Although the ring was in their possession, Norwood didn’t wear the outfit or the $45,000 ring, containing 18-karat rose gold, with a sapphire crystal dome and black volcanic stone.

The designer is looking for Norwood and Thomas to reimburse her for the ring, along with other damages mentioned in the lawsuit. She also claimed she suffered financial loss and emotional trauma during the ordeal.

Norwood returned to her acting roots with the ABC musical series Queens, which premiered on October 19, 2021. “If you’re not from the ’90s, you want to either be from the ’90s, or you wish you could have witnessed a lot of the things,” she said during an interview with Newsweek.

The show tells a story of a fictional hip-hop group, including cast members Eve, Naturi Naughton, and Nadine Velazquez. Rapper Remy Ma was recently added to the cast and appeared in the episode entitled “Bars” that aired on Tuesday, Jan.4.

“I think seeing four Black women on television leading a show, it’s a beautiful thing,” Norwood said.

Watch Queens every Tuesday at 9 p.m. on ABC.
