“Definitely. Definitely,” the New Edition member responded when asked if he believed Bobbi Kristina’s former fiance was involved. “He was the only one there with both situations with my ex-wife and my daughter, and they both died the same way.”
Smith asked Brown directly if he believed Gordon “killed Whitney” to which he responded, “I believe so.”
The 52-year-old man called Gordon a provider of “party favors” and said further, “This is my opinion of who I think this young man was. Being around my daughter and being around my ex-wife, I think he was more so a provider of, you know, party favors.”
Whitney Houston and Bobbi Kristina were each discovered in bathtubs, unresponsive. Both were said to have had drugs in their systems. Whitney was found dead in a hotel in 2012 at the age of 48. Bobbi Kristina died while in Hospice care at the age of 22 in 2015. The coroner found cocaine in Whitney’s system; Bobbi Kristina had a combination of drugs in hers.
In addition to supplying his daughter with drugs, Brown also surmised that physical abuse and Gordon’s desire to control Bobbi Kristina also deepened her dependency on drugs and led to her death.
“She, unfortunately, was stuck in a relationship, an abusive relationship, with a boy that basically controlled her to the point where her life was taken,” the “My Prerogative” singer confessed.
He said he didn’t learn of the physical abuse his daughter suffered until after she died and that was “the hard part” for him.
“I didn’t see it and she didn’t tell me about it,” Brown said. “If I could just get those two days back, she’d still be here, because I would have found out what was going on to do something about it.”
He shared that they hadn’t spent much time together after Houston’s death and in hindsight, he wishes they had.
Brown said that he had wanted to meet with Gordon, who was found guilty of the wrongful death of Bobbi Kristina in 2016, and confront him about what he believed was his role in both deaths but never got the opportunity. The “Every Little Step” singer was in rehab when the young man overdosed.
