Blue Bloods, a fictional police show based in New York City, apparently took a Blue Lives Matter stance with their most recent episode, and the anti-BLM crowd is rejoicing.

The episode, entitled “Hate Is Hate,” included an opening scene where a suspect assaulted an officer from behind, and she responded by pulling her gun on him.

As she did this, the crowd grew angry and recorded her. She ended up being placed under investigation by her department for the incident. 

Throughout the episode, Blue Bloods took a very empathetic stance towards police officers in general. In true pro-police fashion, the script painted social justice groups like BLM as the bad guys and the cops as the good guys.

 

This is unsurprising. During the protests that took place in 2020 on the heels of George Floyd’s murder, showrunner Kevin Wade was called to task about Blue Blood’s pro-police slant. He was asked his thoughts about the notion that police shows needed to be ended altogether because of what society now accepts about the behavior of many law enforcement employees.

“To me, the respect and affection of the 12 million people that watch it frankly take precedence over the 12 pundits who may watch it for the first time because it’s a show about white cops,” he said.

In other words, the demographic that has kept Blue Bloods on the air for 12 seasons has no problem with the Blue Lives Matter-leaning plots, so the show’s producers will continue to follow the money. 

“Hate Is Hate” was the 12th season premiere, and obviously, the showrunners have decided to continue that theme of questioning the validity and effectiveness of the BLM movement. 

On Newsbusters, a conservative site, they gushed about the episode and the show having “the courage to speak the truth about the consequences this country is experiencing from BLM fallout.” 

While Wade claimed that the show is not promoting propaganda, at least two season premiers say otherwise.
