Black Twitter “Traumatized” Over White Men’s Slapfest At NASCAR

Black Twitter is “traumatized” by a recent NASCAR fight that broke out and is making comparisons to how Will Smith was being treated after his Oscars slap.

At the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Martinsville Speedway, Ty Gibbs and rival Sam Mayer got in a heated fistfight on Friday.

A video of the incident shows the two stopping at the pit and hopping out of their cars. Gibbs then confronts Mayer in a heated exchange before pummeling his competitor.

As we previously reported, Smith slapped Chris Rock for poking fun at his wife’s alopecia during the Oscars ceremony.

Since the incident, the world has been flooding with perspectives about the incident. Not surprisingly, many white celebrities shared their reactions, criticizing the actor for his “traumatizing” display of aggression.

Director Judd Apatow expressed strong criticism of Smith’s actions, saying: “He could have killed (Rock). That’s pure out-of-control rage and violence.”

“Violence isn’t ok. Assault is never the answer,” actress and director Sophia Bush tweeted.

On Instagram, Amy Schumer shared that she was “still triggered and traumatized” over the incident.

“I think we can all agree that the best way to unpack what happened is to stream my series @lifeandbethhulu and see me on tour this fall,” she initially joked.

“But for real. Still triggered and traumatized. I love my friend @chrisrock and believe he handled it like a pro. Stayed up there and gave an Oscar to his friend @questlove, and the whole thing was so disturbing. So much pain in @willsmith anyway. I’m still in shock and stunned, and sad. I’m proud of myself and my cohosts. But yeah. Waiting for this sickening feeling to go away from what we all witnessed.”

Smith was later banned from the Oscars until 2032 for slapping Chris Rock.

There does not seem to be the same uproar for the Gibbs punching his opponent. So, Black Twitter is coming with the same energy to encourage Gibbs to be punished for his actions.

Check out some of the reactions:
