‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Film Production Paused While Letitia Wright Recovers From Injury

The film production for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has officially been paused as actress Letitia Wright recovers from an injury she suffered onset in August.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this new bump in the road for the production team has directly resulted in Wright leaving for London, where she’s been getting physical therapy since her accident.

Despite this, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

has, up until now, been shooting scenes for the film around her character, Shuri, the sister of T’Challa, the king of Wakanda, and the protector Black Panther.

Wright suffered from the stunt rig incident in Boston, but the production for the film is based in Atlanta.

According to the outlet, sources reported that the halt is meant to rearrange the shooting to help things be on the right track for an early 2022 restart. The shutdown is expected to take place in the oncoming weeks extending up until Thanksgiving.

“Letitia has been recovering in London since September from injuries sustained on the set of Black Panther 2 and is looking forward to returning to work early 2022,” a representative for Wright said in a statement.

“Letitia kindly asks that you keep her in your prayers,” the rep added.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the sequel to the 2018 Marvel film Black Panther, a box office hit that starred the late actor and protagonist, Chadwick Boseman.

Tragically, Boseman passed away in August of last year after battling colon cancer.

As previously reportedBlack Panther’s latest movie is set to return with most of the original cast, which includes Daniel Kaluuya, Lupita Nyong’o, Winston DukFlorence Kasumba, Danai Gurira, and Angela Bassett.

The sequel has been pushed back from its original release date of July 8, 2022, to November 11, 2022.
