‘Black-ish’ Star Marsai Martin Makes Runway Debut During Milan Fashion Week

Black-ish star Marsai Martin made her runway debut during fashion week in Milan, walking for Missoni. The 17-year-old shared

a video of the moment on Instagram on Feb. 25.

Missoni’s creative director, Angela Missoni, had an all-star list of celebrities to walk the runway wearing looks from his Autumn/Winter 2022 collection, and Martin was one. The actress wore a glittery red turtleneck mini dress paired with ankle boots. Martin also wore cornrows on the runway.

Other looks of the designer included metallic gowns, leather jumpsuits and biker jackets. Martin shared a video of her special moment on Instagram with a caption thanking Missoni for having her walk in the show.

“First time’s a charm (thank the lawd) ✨ MFW #Missoni #MissoniFallWinter22,” she wrote. “thank you for having me 🙂

The actress also wore Missoni at the 2021 American Music Awards. Martin stunned in a sequined zigzag patterned dress. She and her mother, Carol Martin, had fans smiling after watching them get down to New Edition at the AMAs.

The talented young actress also made history at the age of 14. Martin became the youngest Black producer in history in 2019 when she produced the film Little. The film was loosely based on the Tom Hanks movie Big, and Martin also starred in the movie with Regina Hall and Insecure creator and actress Issa Rae.

“I thought, ‘What if we give it a modern perspective with a fresh twist of a powerful black woman?’ I wanted other people to see what’s in my mind, as a young 14-year-old girl,” she said. “Because sometimes when men — or just older people — try to make films from what they think is a kid’s perspective, it doesn’t come out the right. It’s like, ‘Ehhh, that’s probably not what we would do!’”

The film grossed $40.7 million at the box office in North America. Little grossed $49 million worldwide and $1.2 million in domestic DVD sales.

We can’t wait to see what Martin does next.
