“Big Energy” Latto Vows To Continue Collabs With Up-And-Coming Artists

In the fast-paced world of the music industry, where trends change with the blink of an eye, Latto remains an artist true to her roots.

While some fans have suggested she should leave the ‘unknown artists’ behind and focus on established names, Latto has clapped back with a resounding “No.”

In fact, she’s doubling down on her commitment to nurture emerging talent, emphasizing that she, too, was once an ‘unknown artist.’

The social media exchange that ignited this sassy response occurred on a fan’s post that suggested Latto should stop collaborating with lesser-known rappers. The user argued that this would help her maintain the value of her feature appearances.

The user tweeted, “Girl we love you but you need to stop doing collabs with these unknown artists enough is enough, as fans we want to see you win and this will get you nowhere and a latto feature is losing its value. no more babydrills, luh tylers and whoever this is next era please.”

However, Latto had other plans.

In a candid Twitter reply, she exclaimed, “Y’all be getting besides y’all self,” she wrote. She also explained she connected with Anycia because they’re from the same region. “Shawty from the south side & she hard af Idc bout allat. I was an ‘unknown artist’ before and mfs acted too big for me. Stream when we drop.”

Latto’s journey to stardom has been anything but easy. She began her pursuit of a rap career over a decade ago and even participated in Jermaine Dupri’s reality TV series, The Rap Game, in 2016. Her win on the show marked the starting point of her incredible rise.

Since then, she’s released successful albums like Queen of Da Souf and 777. Her 2023 hit, Put It On Da Floor, featuring Cardi B, further solidified her status in the hip-hop scene. She capped off the year with a BET Award for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist.

Latto’s message is clear: she values quality over fame. She’s not just an artist who’s ‘made it,’ but one who’s determined to uplift the next generation of rappers. So, when you see Latto collaborating with emerging talents, remember that she’s living proof that everyone starts as an ‘unknown artist’ at some point.
