According to VIBE, rapper Big Daddy Kane is set to perform an honorary tribute to Biz Markie at the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards in October.
The Brooklyn artist is going to perform a tribute to the legendary Biz Markie, who regrettably passed away in July.
“We’re excited to once again celebrate all of the many talented artists who have made an undeniable impact on music this past year,” said Connie Orlando, EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET.
“Hip Hop is universal and as it continues to boldly solidify a lasting legacy in the culture, we look forward to our tradition of honoring legends, celebrating current artists, and providing a platform that shines a spotlight on upcoming performers,” Orlando added.
At the time of Markie’s death, Kane shared a social media in remembrance of Markie.
Both hip-hop moguls rose to fame as they were both trailblazers for the hip-hop culture as solo acts and as members of the New York City, Queens’ “Juice Crew.”
